from .......Shouting at the Sea Friendship......... In these days of global stardom And the multi millionaire Idolising of great sportsmen Sleeve tattoo's and spiky hair Inflated match day tickets Are inflicted on loyal fans Who'll spend their hard earned wages For a seat among the stands Through the darkened Bentley windows Fall the cries, the shouts and screams For a quick glimpse of our hero's Who are team mates in our dreams And the loyal masses question How the thirst for fame they quench As the agent and the player Check their shares while on the bench But a incident has happened That put superstars to shame When a Greek lad we call Georgie Borough respect back to the game By a simple act of friendship He immortalised the day When he shunned the flashing cameras And sought out his friend Jay With the flags and scarfs all waving Georgie held his pal up high And Jay's smile and pure excitement Touched the clouds up in the sky As the image of this friendship Beamed on all our tv screens Jay and Georgie's day together Will live long in football dreams

Crossey by Joe Ryder..................... Pale from lack of proper sleep Too many late night sessions Hes there to give each gig a gentle shove And sing you must or buy a drink or not another cheep. The Breton sailors hat,the beard, the body-warmer He sways and nods the rhythm tunefully Till everyones involved foot tapping The group takes on his strength unconsciously The venues are diverse it matters not Hib halls and sacristies have felt his boot From Dollingstown to Carlingford,Cootehill and Clough The tunes the thing tomorrow night The Lough. For all aspiring talent he has time Best of order please, shut up your gub. He,ll make a fiddler yet as sure as shite!! The halting jig and reel have made his night. At broken strings Ive never heard him grouse "well take a break, fill up another pint" ASouthern Comfort forced to pass himself "Whats yours?Show her youre man or mouse"! N money changes hands,it spoils the fun Where enters envy, jealousy, who gets what? That never was his way Trr-um Trr-um To share the joys of music-loving crack. And when he gets as far as heavens door St Peter,s bound to pass him fighting fit "Move up and let him join the choir" A nod a wink "Bould Crossey ,keep her lit!" By Joe Ryder.

Health and Safety would have a fit today but in the early 1970's it wasn't of major concern for these two brothers Jim and Gordon Webb who were doing some repairs to the Big Church roof. There was no harness nor ropes just a simple ladder to get onto the roof and a free hand at scaling the roof tiles. Glad to report both men completed the job efficiently and safely!
